Super Mario Run, the autorunner iOS game announced by Shigeru Miyamoto during last month's Apple event, will launch in 150 countries, Nintendo has revealed. According to the company, over 20 million people have signed up to be notified about its launch.
We are making preparations to allow friend relationships from Miitomo to be carried over to Super Mario Run.
"Previously, we announced that we would be releasing Super Mario Run in more than 100 countries, but we can now say that we plan to release this title in approximately 150 countries for iPhone and iPad in December," Nintendo said during a presentations to investors.
Nintendo also reiterated the pricing of Super Mario Run, stating that while it will be free to download, players must pay to unlock the full game, with no additional fees after that. An Android version is also in development. Nintendo did not announce a release date or price point for either the iOS and Android versions of Super Mario Run just yet.
After last month's Apple event, IGN sat down with Miyamoto to learn more about Super Mario Run, which will feature three game modes and be playable on both iPhone and iPad. Super Mario Run will also allow you to bring your Miitomo friend's list over, which Nintendo spoke more about in its recent financial presentation.
"We are making preparations to allow friend relationships from Miitomo to be carried over to Super Mario Run," Nintendo said. "Since Super Mario Run has a mode where you can compete with other players, this means that active communication with your family and friends in Miitomo will lead to even more fun moments in Super Mario Run."
A "major update" is coming to Miitomo, Nintendo's social networking app that launched this March. A direct messaging system and facial expressions are headed to the app, along with some "additional features" Nintendo has yet to disclose.
