Rambo Reboot Gets New Blood With Iceman Director

Not starring Sylvester Stallone.

A new Rambo film is in the works, and director Ariel Vromen (Criminal, The Iceman) is on board to helm.

The film, titled Rambo: New Blood, will serve as a reboot for the series and won't star Sylvester Stallone. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nu Image/Millennium Films wants to cast a younger actor for the role, and plans to treat the character much like its own James Bond.

Brooks McLaren (How It Ends, Line of Sight) in on board to write the script. Rambo: New Blood is still in the early stages of development, so no details regarding the film's plot have yet been revealed.

Last year, news broke that a new television series, also titled Rambo: New Blood, was in development at FOX. Despite initial reports, Stallone isn't involved in the show, which will reportedly tell the story of Rambo and the complex relationship he has with his son.

When Stallone was still attached to star in a proposed fifth installment, the movie had the working title of Last Blood: Rambo.
