Don't Miss These Secret Items in Dark Souls 3's Ashes of Ariandel

This page is a compilation of secrets found in the Ashes of Ariandel DLC, and contains locations of weapons, armor, and special items worth finding as you explore the Painted World.

The following items are listed in order in which they are found progressing through the DLC.

• Follower Javelin - After falling down the false snowbank into the forest of Wolves, head right along the rocks to find a small path leading back to the earlier snowfield guarded by several Farron Followers where you can find the javelin at the top of the ridge.
• Frozen Weapon - After falling down the false snowbank into the forest of Wolves, head left up the hill and through the Weeping Willow enemies to find a rotting gorge with several Fly Creatures guarding the Sorcery Spell.
• Millwood Battle Axe, Ethereal Oak Shield, Captain's Ashes - Head down the forested area of the snowfield past the Greatwolf ambush and down into ruined area with a tall tower. Inside the tower you can find bodies of Millwood Knights that hold the Axe, Shield, and Captain's Ashes that can be given to the Firelink Handmaid to buy the Millwood Knight Set.
• Millwood Greatbow - From the ruined tower, look left for a large sloping hill heading back to the forested snowfield, where two Millwood Knights are guarding the bow on a slope to the left of the ridge-line.

EditAriandel Chapel

• Chillbite Ring - Speak to Sister Friede twice and she will give you the frost-resistant ring as a token of your encounter.

• Follower Sabre - As you cut down the bridge to form a ladder down to the depths, and begin dropping down the large roots, look for a Farron Follower wielding a torch near the bottom of the roots, and climb the roots above him that bury into the cliff where a body holds the sabre.
• Snap Freeze - Once at the bottom of the Depths of the Painting, head along the frozen path past the Ice Crabs into a narrow gorge guarded by Weeping Willows to a particularly angry one that guards the Sorcery Spell.
• Titanite Slab - After defeating the Weeping WIllow guarding the Snap Freeze spell, head back through the gorge and note that a small hill on the side now has revealed a very long ladder leading back up to the Rope Bridge Cave bonfire. At the top of the ladders there's a rotting platform that has a body holding the upgrade.

• Titanite Slab - This upgrade can't be obtained just yet, but in order to get it, you need to enter the Corvian Settlement and climb the first ladder into a home with a friendly Corivan sitting in a chair by the kitchen. Speak to him and here his request to bring fire to the Painted World. Once you have defeated the final boss of the DLC, return to find him standing outside gazing at the Ariandel Chapel. Speak with him once more to hear his thanks, and he will give you the upgrade item.
• Crow Quills - After crossing the first main bridge in the Corvian Settlement, head left around a house to cross another bridge, and run up to the gatehouse above the entrance you came in. From the balcony, you can run and jump off to a small raised platform in front of the entrance that holds the weapon.
• Crow Talons - To get this item you must get to the roof of the building the friendly Corvian resides in. Once you've gone up the main road and taken the side alley that leads to a ladder going to the roofs, drop down on the bridge next to the ladder to find a path to the roof holding the item.
• Slave Knight Set - Take the ladder to the roofs of the buildings in the Corvian Settlement, and look for the open room on the roofs with a ladder leading up above the settlement. In this room, look for a hole next to the ladder to drop down into a room with three Large Corvians as well as the armor.
• Way of White Corona - After taking the ladders to the platforms high above the settlement, head to the roof of the small church and carefully drop into the windows and take out the two Crow Knights inside to find the Miracle Spell.

• Follower Shield - Head up the mountain pass from the bonfire and move all the way to the cliffs at the other end. Move right along the cliffs until you come to a large rock, and to the left is a small platform down below the cliffs that holds the shield.
• Earth Seeker - Continue up the mountain pass, and head right from the large bell to find a sloping path by a rotting tree that leads to a large pit with three Millwood Knights. Defeat the one wielding the giant axe at the far end and check the small area he was guarding to get his axe.
• Follower Torch - this item can be found up past the large bell, going left from the high ridge to a cliff populated by several Wolves. Take the left path from the cliff to go down to a lower platform on the cliff that ends with a body holding the torch.
• Quakestone Hammer - Moving past the cliff to the final area of the mountain pass, go left before reaching the Millwood Knight and Archer, to find a very narrow path ending with a red-eyed Millwood Knight guarding his hammer.

EditAriandel Chapel Basement

• Vilhelm's Set - to find Vilhelm's armor, you need to get the lowest level of the basement - which you can either jump down into or find an illusory wall on the far left wall where you first enter the basement. Going down from the illusory wall, head to the opposite side of the basement and defeat the Fly Creatures guarding his armor.
• Pyromancer's Parting Flame, Floating Chaos - When in the lowest level of the basement, from the stairs via the illusory wall, stick to the right wall and head to the middle of the room to look for a small bricked up doorway that is in fact another illusory wall. Take this exit back outside and carefully drop down the twisting roots to the tall structure above the Champion's Gravetender boss. The body at the end of the structure holds the flame, while Livid Pyromancer Dunnel will invade if you are ember'd - and will drop the pyromancy spell if you beat him.
