Battlefield 1 Directors Making Female Black Ops Movie

John McClain's action thriller moves forward.

Hummingbird, the upcoming action movie from John McClain, is moving forward at Fundamental Films, and Battlefield 1 cinematic directors Marcus Kryler and Fredrik Akerström are on board to helm.

According to Deadline, Kryler and Akerström are making the jump from video games to film with this new directorial gig, which tells the story of a female black ops assassin who learns she's a "new breed of weapon" and not merely a gun for hire.

Mark Gao and Gregory Ouanhon from Fundamental Films are producing, alongside Todd Garner from Broken Road Productions. Additionally, Jeremy Stein from Broken Road and Gary Glushon from Fundamental will executive produce.

Battlefield 1 released last week for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. According to IGN's review, Battlefield 1 provides a nice change of pace for the series, with a single-player campaign that is "more interested in telling the human stories of WWI."
