How to Dominate in Titanfall 2's Coliseum Mode

Coliseum mode is an all new game mode introduced in Titanfall 2! It focuses on pitting Pilots against each other, 1 on 1 in a small circular arena, until someone reaches 3 points. In order to play Coliseum mode, one must either pay 10 credits to play or use a Coliseum ticket.

Both players who play will be given the same equipment and weapons. Whoever wins in Coliseum mode gets the credits they spent on the mode and then some. Matches are usually quite fast and don't take much time, but are a nice change of pace from the regular game modes.

Equipment:

  • EPG-1
  • Charge Rifle
  • Frag Grenade
  • Phase Shift

You cannot get any Titans in Coliseum Mode, but you can still double jump and run along the glass walls surrounding the arena. Below you will find all current up-to-date tips on playing Coliseum mode!

One of the strongest mechanics you can utilize while playing Coliseum mode  is your standard double jump. The EPG-1 gun that most people will use has a delayed projectile meaning that if you aim it directly where you want to hit, unless you are very close to your target then it will travel a distance and most likely miss. Knowing this is key, as your opponent will attempt to shoot where you might land. Instead, try and jump a second time after waiting a bit on your first jump, and they might make the mistake of firing too early! It is also possible to simply not jump a second time at all and make your opponent think that you would jump a second time to give you control.

You should expect enemies to utilize their second jump to try and juke your shots as well. For this reason, whenever you fire at the enemy with your EPG-1, never fire directly at them immediately. Instead, wait for them to jump their second time and aim for where they will land. This way, you're almost guaranteed to hit unless your opponent outplays you somehow.

Meleeing is something people might forget about in this mode as you and your opponent start on opposite ends of the arena, but it is extremely helpful in this mode as both of you will start coming closer and closer together so that you can hit your shots easier. When you get close enough, be sure to try and melee them! It's always going to end up being an instant KO and is a very easy way to win the match. Don't just spam melee though, as that will get you an EPG-1 shot to the face!

While your EPG-1 is only one of your weapons, it is usually the better option to use over the Charge Rifle. The Charge Rifle is not a bad weapon, but it can be extremely difficult to use in Coliseum mode, so it's highly recommended that most players use the EPG-1 instead. The EPG-1 can also kill in one shot just like the Charge Rifle can, it just requires a bit of prediction and good aim.

Never forget that you have access to Phase Shift! You can utilize this class ability to move in unpredictable ways, although you won't be able to see your opponent. In fact, you can Phase Shift, charge up a Frag Grenade, un-phase to see where your opponent is, and throw your grenade at them! Timing it correctly can easily win you the round, and that's only one thing you can do with Phase Shift. Experiment and see what else you can pull off with it!

As mentioned in the previous tip, you should utilize your Frag Grenade when you can, but don't throw it immediately. If you charge it up and time the throw correctly, you can easily hit your opponents with the frag and win the round. This however requires much practice in regards to timing and knowledge of the distance in order to hit, so here are some easier tips for Frag Grenades:

  • If you see your opponent Phase Shift, you can start charging up your Frag Grenade and predict where they might appear. You can also wait until they're actually out of Phase Shift, but that can be dangerous and could cost you the round!
  • A great way to start off the round is to throw out your Frag Grenade to over where the enemy is. This way they will be forced to take a route they wouldn't have had they not been intimidated.
  • Besides just throwing it at the start of the round, you can slowly move towards your opponent as you cook the Frag Grenade and throw it to try and hit them from a decent distance away. Most players would expect this however, so try and fire a couple of times with your EPG-1 or Charge Rifle to make it look like you're trying to get a good hit on your opponent. It could catch them off guard and win you the round with the Frag Grenade.
