Lara Croft's Next Game Name Reportedly Revealed

A shadow rises.

The third game in the rebooted Tomb Raider franchise is reportedly named Shadow of the Tomb Raider, according to an image posted to Reddit earlier today.

Reddit user Tripleh280 spotted someone on the Montreal subway working on what appears to be a presentation, featuring the logo for a Shadow of the Tomb Raider in the upper right-hand corner.

A source speaking to Kotaku confirmed to the outlet that Shadow of the Tomb Raider is in fact currently the title of what would be the third game in the series, which relaunched with 2013's Tomb Raider.

When reached for comment, a representative for Square Enix told IGN that the company does not comment on rumors and speculation.

Battlefield Hardline Creative Director Ian Milham joined Crystal Dynamics, the developer behind the rebooted series, earlier this year as Game Director of the Tomb Raider franchise.

"This is the home of Lara Croft, who is a legend in action-adventure gaming and a pillar of the industry. I’ve admired Crystal’s work for a while now, as they continue to deliver top notch narrative and spectacle, coupled with deep systems and player choice," Milham said at the time of the announcement.

The second entry in the rebooted Lara Croft series, Rise of the Tomb Raider, recently debuted on the PlayStation 4 just under a year after its initial release on Xbox One. IGN gave Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration a 9.3, saying, "Rise of the Tomb Raider hasn’t lost its luster a year after its initial release," including the game's new add-on content, Blood Ties.
