20th Century Fox will resume production on The Maze Runner: The Death Cure in February. Earlier this year, the film was put on an indefinite hiatus following lead actor Dylan O'Brien's on-set injury.
After production had been pushed from the initial May 9 startup date, the film's release date was moved from February 17, 2017 to January 12, 2018. The 2018 date still stands with production now moving forward, according to Deadline.
O'Brien's injuries on the Vancouver set were deemed "more severe than initially expected," including a concussion and facial fracture.
Reports indicate that O'Brien was injured in a vehicle-related accident on the set of The Maze Runner: The Death Cure.
Crew schedules have now been reset, and production will start again at a new location. Wes Ball is still directing, with a script by T.S. Nowlin. The Maze Runner: The Death Cure is the third installment of the popular film franchise.
