How To Survive Fallout 4: Nuka-World's Murderous Dungeon

The Gauntlet is a dungeon set near the beginning of Fallout 4's Nuka-World DLC. The Gauntlet is a collection of turrets, death traps, and monsters designed to test the player's mettle, culminating in a savage boss fight against a power-armored enemy. The Gauntlet is a part of the Taken For a Ride quest. IGN's complete wiki guide and walkthrough to Fallout 4 will help you navigate every deadly corner of this sinister maze.

Before engaging The Gauntlet, equip yourself with your best armor and abundant ammunition. You may want to bring along a Missile Launcher, Fat Boy, or other powerful explosive weapon, as well as a high-capacity standard arm like an Alien Blaster modified to use Fusion Cells or other high-yield, multipurpose weapon. Power Armor with several Fusion Cores and a Ballistic Weave suit of standard armor are also extremely helpful in Nuka-World. You'll also want an absolutely huge supplies of healing items, Rad-X, and Radaway.

You'll enter the gauntlet immediately after exiting the Nuka-World monorail. The first section is a collection of projectile and laser turrets.

Make your way quickly to the thin patch of wall on the left side of the first room at the bottom of the stairs.

From here, you'll be mostly safe from the turrets around you. You can peek left and fire through the break in the wall.

Aim for the Turrets' barrels in VATS to quickly destroy them.

Beware. There is a dangerous turret just to your right, and another hidden in a corner just beyond the wall you're using for cover to your left. Once you've cleared a path, it will try to ambush you from behind as you pass. Another turret is hidden behind a wall a little further ahead as well.

Just past the Turrets, top off your health and save. Then carefully dismantle this Flamethrower Trap from behind..

The floor to your left is rigged with a tripwire. Detonate the barrels from as far away as possible with a carefully placed shot at the mechanism.

Once you've cleared these barrels, take the left-hand path ahead and unlock the door.

It's a Master-grade lock but avoiding the right-hand path is well worth the trouble.

Carefully loop around to the stairs, (wary of the shotgun trap on the ground nearby).

Once upstairs, carefully take the left-hand route around the barrier and then cross the planks.

On the far side of the network of planks are explosive tripwires. Set them off from a distance using your weapon, or carefully avoid then.

Watch out for this trap down the right-hand passage where a small safe is hidden. The left is the correct path toward the exit.

Destroy these explosive tanks with your weapon from a distance then proceed.

Once the flames clear, you'll be able to progress with less danger.

Choose the lefthand door when you reach the three-path branch. It's the only one of the three that proceeds onward.

Use Rad-X before descending these stairs, or don a Hazmat Suit or Power Armor. This area tries to hurry you forward into making a mistake with heavy radiation dosage.

Unlock the door beyond the radiation zone to proceed.

Drop down the platform beyond this plaza.

Peek very carefully around this corner and shoot the head off the monkey. Double back quickly to the terminal.

Hack the terminal to disable the newly-alerted bots.

Just behind the monkey, grab these keys and open up the next room.

From this perspective, choose the left-hand path.

You'll know you're going the right way when you see this guy.

Just past this platform you'll be able to climb atop the debris that makes up this part of the maze.

You'll be able to cross and hop over mines and traps by staying atop the generators and bridges above the maze.

Stay atop the structures and make your way down to this door. Keep your eyes open for mines.

Be very careful near the door. A turret hides just inside.

From this point forward, be extremely wary of mines and bombs when passing through doors. Keep a finger hovering over the run button and be prepared to double back at the first warning, including when you enter the subterranean garage. Keep your health topped off to avoid being killed by a stray bomb.

A car bomb waits in the garage.Be ready for the warning and rush away, but don't run ahead...mines are plentiful here.

More mines await near this opening.

When you reach this bridge, exercise extreme caution. A car bomb is concealed to your left, and Mirelurks hide on the water below. Rush across the causeway before the boards can collapse, leaping to the posts if necessary. Unlock the door and proceed. A small antechamber awaits beyond.

Grenades will drop the moment you open this door at the far end of the antechamber. Back away quickly.

More explosive traps are hidden in this tunnel's upper reaches.

Gas will begin to flood the room beyond the next door. Quickly hit the valve to your left, then rush straight ahead through the locked door to the terminal and unlock all doors. Be wary...firing your weapon here will trigger flames.

Avoid, or if absolutely necessary, engage the Legendary Radroach that stalks this area.

Outside, use VATS to target the swarms of Flying Ants.

In the gated areas, enemies will attack from above. Carefully kill them by ducking in and out of the doorway leading to the outside area, and watch out for grenades.

Shoot the blue and yellow bullseye at the end of the hall to trigger the explosive traps hidden beyond.

Watch out for this trap just beyond these three stacked barrels.

Pass through one more door and you're finally ready to take on Nuka-World's first boss, Overboss Colter.
