Karen Gillan has joined the cast of Sony's upcoming Jumanji reboot.
According to Deadline, the Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy star will play the character known as Martha. She joins a cast of all-star talent that includes Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Nick Jonas and Jack Black. The outlet said "she meshed best with the cast and won out," concluding months of searching as Sony sought out the right actress for this key role.

Gillen will reprise her role as Nebula in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 and appear later this year in James Ponsoldt's sci-fi drama The Circle.
Jumanji will open in theaters on July 28, 2017. Jake Kasdan will direct the reboot, which promises to offer a fresh take on Chris Van Allsburg's beloved 1981 children's picture book of the same name.
