Bond Director in Talks for James and the Giant Peach Movie

"Very early stages" of negotiations.

Disney's live-action adaptation of James and the Giant Peach may have found its director in Sam Mendes.

According to Deadline, the director — who helmed the two most recent James Bond films Skyfall and Spectre — is currently in the "very early stages" of negotiations to both develop and direct the project, a screenplay for which is being penned by Brooklyn writer Nick Hornby.

Disney has been incredibly active these past few years in adapting classic stories for live-action. Earlier this year, the studio released Jon Favreau's live-action take on The Jungle Book, which was praised by critics and already has a sequel in the works.

Additionally, a Beauty and the Beast adaptation starring Emma Watson releases next year, and a Little Mermaid live-action feature is currently under consideration.
