Warcraft Filmmaker Duncan Jones: No Sequel Plans

The film is the most successful video game adaptation of all time.

Duncan Jones has no current plans to create a sequel to Warcraft, but given the opportunity, he says he'd make one.

For Jones, Warcraft was the perfect setup for other films within the Warcraft world. "If there were an opportunity for us to make another film in the Warcraft universe I really feel like we did the hard work in the first movie as far as setting the table," Jones told Thrillist. "I would love to capitalize on three and a half years of hard work and be able to have some fun in that world."

It'd be the second chance to "push through everything that I knew needed to happen in order to make the film I knew it could be." Jones is proud of his work on Warcraft, he added, but he'll never release a three-hour director's cut of the movie.

There are just too many visual effects he'd have to add to the scenes that didn't make it into the original version. "Every concession that you make you lose shots," Jones said. "They cease to exist because the effects work never gets done. Some of it's not even at that stage."

So there's no possibility for Jones to release a director's cut. "It's purely in my head," he added.

Warcraft didn't do so well with American audiences, but was a bit hit in China. Its success there launched the film to the top spot as the most successful video game adaptation of all time.
