Academy Award winner Brie Larson (Room, 21 Jump Street) is reportedly in "early talks" to play the title role in Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel.
"It is unknown where things stand in negotiations but sources have told Variety she is the choice and Larson is leaning towards playing the part," according to Variety.
The trade says Marvel Studios has wanted to cast Captain Marvel before securing a director for that film in order to introduce the character, aka Carol Danvers, in an upcoming Marvel movie.
Danvers is expected to make that introduction in Avengers: Infinity War, which begins filming next year under the direction of Civil War's Russo Bros. Community fans will remember that Larson, 26, appeared on the show a few times and that the Russos, who exec produced the series, have cast other Community actors in small roles in both of their Captain America movies.
Larson's other credits include The Spectacular Now, Short Term 12, United States of Tara, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. She stars opposite MCU veterans Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson in the forthcoming Kong: Skull Island.
