Overwatch is now the biggest game in South Korean internet cafes.
According to Gametrics (via Polygon), more than 30 percent of gamers in the country's PC bangs (internet cafes) are jumping on to play Blizzard's new MOBA.
Its popularity is pushing Korean favourite League of Legends down to 27.8 percent, toppling it from the top spot it has occupied since August 2012.
Bangs are a huge part of Korean gaming culture - a trend that goes hand in hand with Overwatch's developer, Blizzard, whose 1998 RTS Starcraft became an unprecedented hit in the country. 4.5 million of the game's 9.5 million total sales were made in South Korea alone.
Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan recently outlined some of the changes coming to Overwatch's Competitive Play thanks to the feedback from the Public Test Region - which was made available in Korea first.
Blizzard is continuing to tweak the game based on player feedback. If the competitive mode isn't up to snuff, Blizzard will fix it, Kaplan said. The developer is already adjusting some of its heroes including Widowmaker, who was recently nerfed.
