The Super Nintendo classic role-playing game Super Mario RPG: Legend of The Seven Stars is hitting the U.S. Wii U Virtual Console on June 30, Nintendo's website has revealed.
Super Mario RPG will cost $7.99 when it releases tomorrow and allow for off-TV play. The Square-developed SNES title first released in 1996 features Mario and friends journeying around the Musroom Kingdom to reclaim the titular Seven Stars and repair Star Road. The title later reappeared on the Wii Virtual Console in 2008.
Europe received Super Mario RPG on the region's Wii U Virtual Console in December of 2015, but at the time Nintendo made no announcements about bringing the game to the United States.
One of IGN's top 125 Nintendo games of all time, Super Mario RPG is featured as part of IGN's The History of Awesome overview of 1996. For more on the game, read IGN's Super Mario RPG review from the time of its Wii Virtual Console release.
Several Pokemon Mystery Dungeon titles recently made their way to the Wii U Virtual Console, as well.
