PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will have a chance to dive back into The Banner Saga sooner than expected.
Originally planned for a console release on July 26, The Banner Saga 2 will now come to Xbox One on July 1 and the PlayStation 4 on July 5. The sequel was revealed earlier today as one of July's free Games With Gold titles, while a post on the PlayStation Blog announced the PS4 release date and revealed PS4 players will gain access to an exclusive in-game item, the Playful Hilt of Arnr.
The Banner Saga 2 originally released on PC on April 19 of this year, while the first Banner Saga came to the PS4 and Xbox One this past January. The PlayStation Blog post also mentions that development of the original The Banner Saga for the PlayStation Vita is still ongoing and "largely being handled" by Sony.
The Banner Saga 2 was originally announced in 2014 and picks up the story only a few weeks after the first game's ending.
