A new Professor Layton game is in the works, and reports suggest the professor won't actually be the game's protagonist.
Polygon reports CEO of Level-5 Akihiro Hino teased the main character won't be Layton, nor will it be his son Alfendi (who appeared in the Layton Brothers: Mystery Room mobile game).
According to Famitsu (via Kotaku), the new game will be part of the main series, but won't star the professor. Some concept art was revealed too, and we're yet to see anything of the titular professor yet.
More details on this new Layton game will be revealed at the Level-5 Vision event next month in Japan.
We were hit with some sad news earlier this year, as puzzle designer for the long-running Layton series, Akira Tago died at age 90.
