System Shock Remake Kickstarter Now Live

Crowdfunding goal of $900,000.

Nightdive Studios has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming remake of the 1994 PC horror classic System Shock.

According to the project's crowdfunding page, the game will be a "complete remake" of the original title, built using the Unity Engine. The Kickstarter goal is set at $900,000 and at the time of this posting, the campaign has already raised over $85,000.

Those who pledge at least $150 will receive the Big Box Collector's Edition, which includes the game's soundtrack, a collectible handbook, patch and pin, as well as a steel DVD case and repair-bot figurine. Give it a look below.

Additionally, a pre-alpha demo that "represents the look and feel" of what the studio hopes to achieve with the remake is now available for download through Steam, the Humble Store and GOG.com. Nightdive is careful to note this is just a proof of concept, so everything you see in the demo is subject to change for the final product.

Just last year, OtherSide Entertainment announced that System Shock 3 is in the works, and shortly thereafter Warren Spector joined the project as studio director.
