BioShock Collection, Release Date Officially Revealed

BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite included along with all single-player DLC.

2K has officially announced BioShock: The Collection, headed to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC for $59.99 in North America on September 13, Australia on September 15, and internationally on September 16.

BioShock: The Collection will include BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite remastered in 1080p and running at 60fps on all platforms. 2K worked with Blind Squirrel Games on the remaster. On PC, the collection will not include BioShock Infinite, as it “already meets current-gen console standards and runs smoothly on high visual settings,” according to 2K.

BioShock will include the Challenge Rooms originally released with the PlayStation 3 version, as well as the Museum of Orphaned Concepts gallery, which originally appeared in the Ultimate Rapture Edition and is “a Rapture-inspired virtual museum that gives you a behind-the-scenes look at discarded concepts that never made it into the original game,” according to 2K. A new director’s commentary video series titled “Imagining BioShock” featuring creative director Ken Levine and lead animator Shawn Robertson will also be included.

BioShock 2 mutliplayer is not included in the collection, but challenge DLC The Protector Trials and standalone story DLC Minerva’s Den will be part of the set. BioShock Infinite, meanwhile, includes the Clash in the Clouds wave-based challenge DLC, as well as both parts of Burial at Sea, story DLC that returns to Rapture and eventually allows the player to control Elizabeth. The Columbia’s Finest pack, which offers extra weapons and gear, is also included.

BioShock was originally released in 2007 on Xbox 360 and PC, and made its way to PlayStation 3 a year later. BioShock 2 launched in 2010, followed by BioShock Infinite in early 2013.

While BioShock and BioShock 2 were bundled into the Ultimate Rapture Edition for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2013, BioShock: The Collection marks the first time all three games are bundled together on consoles, as well as the franchise’s first appearance on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Rumors of a collection have been swirling since last year, fueled by ratings board listings, retailer leaks, and even a page on 2K’s own site.
