An elite team of Grand Theft Auto V players have resolved a major mystery.
The hunt began with the discovery of the golden peyote plant – a hallucinogenic herb that transforms the player into Bigfoot. Then, in search of more of the hidden herb, players took to combing through the game’s code in the hopes of finding more spawn locations.
And more locations they did find. Not only did the players find coordinates, they also found coded messages from the developers at RockStar. One such message reads “he was wrong to start his hunt on Tuesday.”
What the herb-hunting taskforce deduced was each plant must appear on a specific day of the week, under specific weather conditions. With one golden peyote found, this left the team only another six to go.
You can read the full story over on Kotaku, but what happened next is the team of 30 players attempted to use Bigfoot’s sonar to locate the next plant. Seeing as getting the right day of the week combined with exact weather conditions would prove near impossible, the team used outside means to get the right conditions.
After months of following cold trails, and several more coded messages from RockStar, the team finally uncovered what was at the end of the plant hunt: A chase which ends in a secret fight against the Beast – a character who bears a striking resemblance to Michael J Fox’s Teen Wolf character – who once beaten, can then be used in the game’s Director Mode.
