New J.K. Rowling Story Reveals History of American Hogwarts

More on the history of American magic.

J.K. Rowling has released the new short story in The History of Magic in North America series.

This new short story series acts as a lead-in to the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which will hit theaters on November 18.

The latest story can be found on Pottermore and is titled Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It tells the story of the American equivalent to Hogwarts, which "stands at the highest peak of Mount Greylock."

You'll find out about the history of the school and its founders, and you'll discover how a certain Salazar Slytherin was involved.

Other stories in the series focus on Skin-walkers, a native American legend, the Salem witch trials, and the Magical Congress of the United States of America.

J.K. Rowling recently revealed her favorite Harry Potter character, aside from Harry of course.
