Bryan Cranston has shed more light on his role as Zordon in the upcoming Power Rangers movie.
Cranston told ET that the story of the character bears a resemblance to the original show character, who said he had been trapped in a time warp by the villainous Rita Repulsa.
"The tenant of that storyline is that this a real person who is trapped in this etherworld and it becomes this in-the-wall so to speak of [the command center]," Cranston said. "He still has a heart and mind, but an agenda that he's got to get these five Power Rangers to defend the earth or else everyone they know will be killed."
That sounds like a more grounded human character, with some hints that it could retain the backstory that involves the film's chief antagonist, played by Elizabeth Banks.
Cranston also said the performance involves motion capture and "a lot of CGI-work."
Lionsgate recently released the first poster for the film, which only showed silhouettes of the five teenagers with attitude. But, we've already seen promotional artwork for their costumes. Power Rangers is set to open March 24, 2017.
