Thumper will launch alongside the release of PlayStation VR on October 13, a post on the PlayStation Blog announced.
Additionally, developer Drool and iam8bit have announced a very on-brand collector's edition for Drool's “Rhythm Violence Game," Thumper.
The picture disc vinyl edition will include a game code for PS4/Steam, feature music by Lightning Bolt's Brian Gibson, and art by album artist Robert Beatty (Tampe Impala, Neon Indian.)
The music was composed by Gibson under a “gameplay first” mantra, with the levels and mechanics being developed before the music. You can listen to a preview of the soundtrack on Soundcloud.
“You don’t play the music in Thumper - you survive it" says Drool's Marc Flurry.
We had a mind-melting experience when we played Thumper in PlayStation VR at PAX East: "it’s aggressive, stress-inducing, and a complete sensory overload."
Pre-orders for the edition open June 30 at 9 am PT, with an estimated ship date of October.
