Deathstroke #1 - $2.99
STL014029

By writer Christopher Priest & artist Carlo Pagulayan, Jason Paz | DC Comics

Do you ever love a character and wish they’d just get a really sick comic book that encapsulates everything that makes them awesome and provides an introspective, chilling, and brutal reading experience? Well we've already read this first issue and recommend you check out Deathstroke’s new comic series, because Christopher Priest knows a thing or two about making comics and is using that knowhow to craft what’s already looking like the definitive Deathstroke story that honors the character and proves to you that, yes, he is as awesome as you think he is and now everyone else knows, too.

Hellblazer #1 - $2.99
STL014066

By writer Simon Oliver & artist Moritat | DC Comics

John Constantine is back with another new comic series. We’re digging how this one is called Hellblazer, returning Constantine’s comic to its dingy, black magic roots where it made its name in the comic industry. This one starts off in a weird place (as you’d expect) with Constantine teaming up with Swamp Thing as bigger and darker things brew that spell trouble for the mystical side of the DCU.

Extraordinary X-Men #13 - $3.99
STL013504

By writer Jeff Lemire & artist Victor Ibanez | Marvel Comics

Jeff Lemire and Humberto Ramos just finished the time-traveling Apocalypse Wars and gave the X-Men a big problem to worry about:

(Spoilers!)

Colossus has been successfully returned to the present, but now he’s Apocalypse’s War Horseman leading a band of Akkaba cultists. Not to mention that future-Apocalypse himself is a prisoner of the X-Men, which will surely lead to nothing good.

And if that wasn’t enough, Magik’s demonic protege is fated to cause some big problems, and this new “Kingdoms Fall” arc will see that conflict come to a head. If that cover is any indication, it’s going to be creepy, scary, and gross.

Lemire’s writing reminds us of the Chris Claremont glory days where relationships were complex and plots flew by at breakneck speed, and just when we think things are okay, the heat gets turned up to insane levels. Which stinks for the X-Men, but makes some great comics for us!
