Hideo Kojima's no stranger to a celebrity cast, and so it is that we may be seeing Hannibal and Casino Royale actor Mads Mikkelsen show up in the mysterious Death Stranding. But this is no regular announcement...
The clues begin with a tweet from Kojima, featuring what appears to be simply an actor in a motion capture rig:
But NeoGAF user Sn4ke_911 saw more to it than that. Somehow, he stumbled across an Instagram post from jmerskine1, posted on the same day, which seemed to show the Danish antagonist specialist wearing a familiar orange-and-grey hoodie:
What's more, jmerskine1's comments on the shot mention that Mad Mikkelsen was visiting Sheffield to act in a video game, and that it was a Japanese game in particular.
Add to that the fact that Kojima has previously called Mikkelsen his "favorite actor", and we have ourselves a not unconvincing case for Hannibal himself appearing alongside Norman Reedus' weeping beach man.
Last we heard, Kojima's upcoming action game was close to entering full production, so here's hoping we hear more soon.
Joe Skrebels is IGN's UK News Editor, and he's in total agreement that Mads is peerless in the field of looking "cool and sexy in blood". Follow him on Twitter.
