The Titanfall 2 multiplayer technical test is an open beta that runs over two weekends (8/19 - 8/21 and 8/26 - 8/28) for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Here's what you need to know about the beta, and tips on how to dominate in the three multiplayer modes.
The first technical test features Bounty Hunt and Pilot vs. Pilot on the maps Boomtown and Homestead. Below are mode-specific tips, and general tips that can help you succeed.

These tips will help you conquer the three multiplayer modes available this weekend and level up your character faster.
- Join a network! Playing during their designated “Happy Hour” will earn you five extra Merit points per match, which makes leveling up during that time a whole lot easier.
- If you can't find a newly created network, be sure you've changed the setting for minimum number of members. The default search is >10 members.
- Don’t ignore grunts and spectres - killing these fodder-ey NPCs will increase the deployment rate of your Titan. Killing these enemies will also help charge your Titan’s power core.
- Turn on Automatic Sprint in the control menu. This enables you to run without having to push in the stick.
- You can collect the batteries you pull out of enemy Titans and put them in your teammates Titans to refill their shields. You can also use batteries on your own titan, but need to get OUT of the ‘bot to collect and install the battery.
- Kill enemies that steal Titan batteries from friendly Titans. They'll drop the battery, and then you can take it for your team. You'll automatically collect the battery when you run over it.
- Titan weapons have an alternate fire when aiming down the sight.
- The Grappling Hook isn't just one or two uses - the amount of energy each use expends is dependent on the distance traveled along the line. You can cancel your Grappling Hook by tapping the assigned button again.
- Try to combo your wall-runs, double jumps, and slides to gain speed more quickly. Using the the Grappling Hook to fling yourself around the map will help too.
- Be sure that you're paying to unlock your weapon mods etc. after each game. These will help you play better and tune your weapons to your personal preference.
- Try out other weapons and loadouts, but once you've found on that works for you, stick with it so that you can level it up faster. That way you'll unlock its mods without having to pay for them.
Earn money by killing enemy pilots, NPCs, Titans, and the marked bounty, then deposit your bonus money at banks to earn your team extra points. Each match is limited to 15 minutes.
You'll loose half of your money every time you're killed, so play it safe as the game progresses.
Each kill you make in Bounty Hunt rewards you with a different bonus.
Grunt | $10 |
Spectre | $20 |
Stalker | $25 |
Reaper | $50 |
Enemy Pilot | Min. $10 |
Bounty Damage | $XX |
Bounty Kill | $200 |
- Killing an enemy pilot will get you at least $10 if that enemy doesn't have points on them.
- You'll get a seemingly random amount of money for every shot you make on the bounty Titan. The amount you earn for each shoot seems to be based on how much damage you do to the Titan.
Depositing your earnings can be both a dangerous and profitable time. Keep these tips in mind after you clear each wave:
- Holding on to your money after each wave doesn't benefit you. Deposit it as soon as you can.
- Crouch while depositing your money. If you have a lot to deposit, have a teammate watch your back or deposit chunks of money at a time. Standing around will leave you vulnerable.
- Team up with friends later in the game to stalk a bank and take out players as they approach to deposit their money. This way you get rid of their savings and earn more cash for your team.
- Use your Titan to defend the bank area while you make your deposit.
Capture hardpoints to earn points for your 6-player team. Hang around the hardpoint to charge it till its amped, and you'll get double points. Each game is limited to 10 minutes.
- It takes one minute to amp a point. Amp your team's point at the beginning of the game to get ahead on earning your Titan. If you stick around till it's amped, you'll be at 30%.
- It pays to be defensive! You'll earn points toward your titan and boost as you sit by an amped point. It's slow, but you're guaranteed that charge. Plus, defensive kills are worth a lot.
- If your point is constantly being contested, try to sneak around and get to the point on the opposite side of the map.
- If you notice a hardpoint it isn't being amped, that likely means that someone isn't very close to the point. Reversely, you can hide near the point without amping it and hope that the enemy thinks no one is home.
