Batgirl and the Birds of Prey Rebirth #1 - $2.99
STL010751

Written by Shawna Benson & Julie Benson & Drawn by Claire Roe | DC

DC's New 52 Birds of Prey comic didn't quite capture the magic of the old days. Luckily, it appears that the series is getting back to basics for DC Rebirth and narrowing the cast back down to the core trinity - Batgirl, Huntress and Black Canary. Judging from the cover alone, it appears that this team will have plenty of personal strife to work through in addition to battling the bad guys. But they'll have to work together, as this issue introduces a villain who's stolen the mantle of Oracle and is ruining Barbara Gordon's good name.

All-New Wolverine #10 - $3.99
STL010483

Written by Tom Taylor & Drawn by Ig Guara | Marvel

All-New Wolverine has quickly become the shining star of the X-Men franchise right now, and tying into Civil War II has done nothing to slow the book's momentum. This issue dives headlong into the conflict, as Laura receives a disturbing prophecy and is forced to question just how far she'll go to protect those she cares about. Luckily, she'll have some extra backup in the form of Old Man Logan. We're excited to see Tom Taylor explore the dynamic between these two Wolverines. And Civil War II being what it is, we doubt they'll always be on the same side.

Black Hammer #1 - $3.99
STK674086

Written by Jeff Lemire & Drawn by Dean Ormston | Dark Horse

We don't know how Jeff Lemire manages to juggle so many comic books, but we're happy he does. No sooner does Lemire wrap up Plutona at Image Comics than he debuts a new superhero series at Dark Horse. But like Plutona, Black Hammer isn't your typical superhero book. This series focuses on a group of aged heroes who have been forgotten in the wake of a multiversal crisis and now live out their days in a quiet farming town.

Batman #3 - $2.99
STL010841

Written by Tom King & Drawn by David Finch | DC

It's a good thing Batman now ships twice a month. We're too impatient to find out the secrets behind Gotham City's two newest heroes to wait an entire month. Look for Batman to team up with the superhuman avenger known as Gotham as thee two confront a mysterious new killer stalking innocent civilians. But is Gotham as heroic and noble as he seems?

Faith #1 - $3.99
STL010196

Written by Jody Houser & Drawn by Pere Perez, Marguerite Sauvage & Colleen Doran | Valiant

As well-received as Valiant's Faith mini-series was, we weren't at all surprised to learn it would be followed up with an ongoing series. The new Faith comic will pick up where the previous one left off, as this plucky heroine tries to make her way in the world and juggle the responsibilities of being a superhero and a reporter. Faith's life is about to grow more complicated thanks to the debut of a mysterious villain who seems to carry a major grudge against her and the means to neutralize her powers.

The Hellblazer Rebirth #1 - $2.99
STL010755

Written by Simon Oliver & Drawn by Moritat | DC

For some John Constantine fans, the character just hasn't been the same since he was drawn back into the DC Universe. Perhaps his newest solo series will be just what the doctor ordered. Not only is this book simply titled "The Hellblazer," it returns Constantine to his familiar London stomping grounds and puts him into the hands of Vertigo mainstay Simon Oliver. Oliver looks to be pushing his hero to the limits right off that bat, with Constantine holding the fates of 8 millions souls in his hands.

Plutona HC - $39.99
STL018243

Written by Jeff Lemire & Emi Lenox & Drawn by Emi Lenox | Image

Not only is Jeff Lemire's Black Hammer kicking off this week, but Image is releasing a hardcover collection of the recently completed Plutona. If you haven't read this heart-wrenching tale of a group of children discovering the dead body of a famous superhero, you owe it to yourself to check it out. The good news is that, if $40 is too steep for your tastes, Image is also releasing a cheaper paperback version this week.
