Get ready to meet the next generation of TV sitcom family. IGN can exclusively debut a new poster for FOX's upcoming comedy Son of Zorn, from The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
This is a new sort of mixed family, as the titular Zorn (Jason Sudeikis) -- a barbarian from the animated land of Zephyria -- returns to Orange County, Calif. to reconnect with his his ex-wife Edie (Cheryl Hines) and son Alangulon, nicknamed "Alan" (Johnny Pemberton).
As the poster shows, even a family photo is made funnier when one of the characters is animated. Also pictured is Edie's fiance Craig (Tim Meadows).
Talking about the conception of Son of Zorn, Lord said he and Miller quickly realized "the fact that it's a hybrid should be the story. It shouldn't just be a gimmick; it should lend itself to an emotional or relationship problem."
They also can't help but lean into the humor that comes out of having an animated character live in our world. "It's fun to watch this guy use a stapler," Lord told IGN. "Boring things are super exciting because it's him doing it and it doesn't look right. That's the biggest surprise for me."
Son of Zorn's 13-episode first season will debut on September 25th on FOX.
