San Diego Comic-Con 2016 is over, and we're still recovering from the four-day long marathon of getting new trailers, reveals and details about our favorite TV shows, films, comics and games. Now that Comic-Con is done, it's time to take a look back at what made the biggest impression at this year's annual geek celebration.
One of the biggest announcements of Comic-Con was the confirmation that Brie Larson will in fact be playing Carol Danvers in Marvel's upcoming Captain Marvel film. The actress was already at SDCC to promote her role in Kong: Skull Island, but she crashed the end of Marvel's Hall H panel on Saturday to announce her part in the upcoming project.
Fans got their first look at Sony and Marvel's upcoming standalone Spider-Man film during Marvel's Hall H panel. Viewers already got a look at Peter Parker as a superhero in Captain America: Civil War, so it's fitting that the footage shown focused on him as a teenager. Director Jon Watts emphasized that Spider-Man: Homecoming will be a high school film, and we got Freaks & Geeks and John Hughes vibes from the footage we saw.
During the panel, Marvel announced the supporting cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, which includes Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. Fans also got their first look at concept art of Michael Keaton as the film's villain, Vulture.
Warner Bros.'s Hall H panel was packed with exciting reveals and trailers, but the creme de la creme of the studio's announcements was the debut of the first Justice League footage. Showing Bruce Wayne assembling his superhero team, the footage gave the first taste of how Bat-Man, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the Flash and Cyborg will come together. Oh, and the Mother Boxes. Don't forget the Mother Boxes!
The panel also debuted the first official imagery of the Justice League assembled. The photo shows The Flash, Superman, Cyborg, Wonder Woman, Batman, and Aquaman, played by Ezra Miller, Henry Cavill, Ray Fisher, Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, and Jason Momoa respectively.
Even if you missed Comic-Con, chances are you've seen the first trailer for Patty Jenkins' upcoming Wonder Woman. The trailer wows in just about every way, with incredible action sequences, a great characterization of Diana Prince and gorgeous cinematography. Plus, the Lasso of Truth looks awesome.
The official poster for the film was released, as well as first looks at Wonder Woman's official costumes. Jenkins and star Gal Gadot also celebrated the legacy of Wonder Woman by appearing on the Wonder Woman 75th Anniversary Comic-Con panel.
You want Baby Groot? Marvel's got your Baby Groot. Beyond some fun new footage of what fans can expect from Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, the whole cast of the upcoming film -- plus director James Gunn -- showed up on stage to preview what's ahead. We learned Kurt Russell will be playing Ego the Living Planet, the Ravagers stirred up a bit of trouble on stage and Michael Rooker showed up in full Yondu regalia, complete with his full head fin.
Beyond Ego, the biggest news about the new film is that Sylvester Stallone will also star in it, and Elizabeth Debicki will play the villain Ayesha. The footage impressed IGN's Scott Collura, who shared a breakdown of the scene and teaser. Though the Guardians 2 footage isn't online, fans can get a look at Ego's costume, as well as the film's rockin' logo. Additionally, we learned Guardians of the Galaxy will take over the Tower of Terror at Disneyland's California Adventure.
