Spider-Man: Homecoming Director Reveals Names of Peter Parker's Classmates

But we're only on a first-name basis with them at the moment.

Marvel revealed the main cast for next year's Spider-Man: Homecoming during San Diego Comic-Con, but now the film's director has offered a bit more information on who these actors are playing in the film.

Director Jon Watts confirmed the names of several of the film's high school characters to Entertainment Weekly. He only provided the first names of the characters, however, and while no connections to pre-existing characters are confirmed, figures from Spider-Man's comic adventures do share similar or the same first names with the film's players.

The most noticeable of the revealed names, for example, is that of Tony Revolori's character — Flash. That name will sound familiar, as Flash Thompson has existed in Marvel comics for decades and appeared in both Sam Raimi's trilogy of Spider-Man films and Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man movies.

As Zendaya also told IGN at SDCC,  the actress is set to play Michelle, while Laura Harrier stars as Liz, and Jacob Batalon plays Ned.

Notable Spider-Man comic characters with the same or similar first names for the other announced players include Michele Gonzales, who has been romantically involved with Peter Parker in the comics. A character named Liz has also appeared in Spider-Man comics as a popular girl in Peter's high school. Spider-Man's comic history also includes Ned Leeds, a Daily Bugle reporter who is one of the characters to don the name Hobgoblin.

Again, Watts does not confirm that any of the named characters are directly connected to any of these or other characters. Stay tuned to IGN as more is revealed of the film in the coming months.

Watts also does not say who Michael Keaton is playing, though reports before the cast announcement suggest he will star as the film's villain, Vulture. Concept art for the film's main foe was released during Comic-Con.
