Burnout Creators Start Development on a New Driving Game

The one game we hope does crash a lot.

Three Fields Entertainment - the studio founded by Criterion Games alumni Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry - has begun work on its spiritual successor to Burnout.

The news was announced by ex-Burnout director, Ward in a nice 'n' simple tweet this morning:

Last year, Ward made clear that Three Fields would begin development on the game after work was completed on Dangerous Golf - itself a sports-skewed take on Burnout's Crash Junctions.

"Our first game is a multiplayer sports game", he tweeted at the time. Then we make a driving game. What sort of driving game you ask? A spiritual successor. Speed. Traffic. And Crashing. Lots and lots of crashing."

It's not clear which kind of Burnout game Three Fields is aiming to emulate - whether it's the challenge-focused older games or Paradise's open world - but we'll have more for you just as soon as we find out.
