A logical move.
Level-5 has announced Lady Layton, a sequel to the core Professor Layton series for Japanese release on 3DS, iOS and Android in Spring 2017.
Folowing the leak this week, the game will indeed star Professor Layton's daughter, and will be a fairly straightforward follow-up to the core games in the series, with a familiar mix of storytelling and puzzles.
Announced at the developer's Level-5 Vision event, Lady Layton's new puzzle designer Kuniaki Iwanami was also introduced (following the death of original puzzle master, Akira Tago).
It's not clear as yet whether the game will come to the west. While the core Layton series was a success outside of Japan, there's been no word on mobile spin-off Layton 7.
