Pinball aficionados can now enjoy some of Stern Pinball's tables in virtual reality. The Pinball Arcade, already on PC, mobile, and consoles, is now available on Oculus Rift.
The game is free to download and comes with Mary Shelley's Frankenstein table. There are 3 other tables available for download: Star Trek, for $10, Ripley's Believe It Or Not for $5, and Starship Troopers, also available for $5.
Stern Pinball CEO Gary Stern calls the VR version of The Pinball Arcade "a new, fun spin on our much beloved pinball games."
"We’re always looking for creative new ways to provide pinball experiences for current players and future generations," he said.
Stern Pinball is the oldest "and largest" maker of pinball machines in the world. The company has built Ghostbusters pinball machines, a Walking Dead pinball table, and tables from many other big-name licenses.
Pinball FX 2 also offers a virtual reality experience, one that hybridizes real-world and digital pinball experiences.
The Stern Pinball virtual reality experience is perhaps the best solution to having actual Stern Pinball machines in your home. Working in the virtual space means you don't need to bribe your friends with beer and free pinball promises to have them help move a table into your third floor apartment.
