The second season of Attack on Titan has been announced for a spring 2017 release.
News of the show's long-awaited return was revealed alongside a promotional image at the Tokyo International Forum during an Attack Festival live-reading event (via Crunchyroll). See the new Season 2 visual below.
The core staff from the first season will be returning, with former episode director Masashi Koizuka moving up to director, and Season 1 director Tetsuro Araki now overseeing the project as chief director.
Attack on Titan: Season 2 was originally announced back in November 2014 for release in 2016, but was delayed. A two-part live-action film adaptation released last year to negative reviews.
Additionally, the creative talent behind Attack on Titan's first season created an original series called Kabaneri and the Iron Fortress, which earned its place as one of IGN's favorite shows of the spring 2016 season.
