Nicole Kidman on Why She Joined Aquaman Cast

Director James Wan a big reason why Kidman joined the film.

Nicole Kidman revealed why she agreed to join the Aquaman solo film.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kidman confirmed she'll be playing Aquaman's (Jason Momoa) mother Queen Atlanna in the movie. While Kidman hasn't been a part of a comic book film since 1995's Batman Forever, the decision to join Aquaman's cast was an easy one to make for the actress, particularly because of director James Wan.

Kidman is a big fan of Wan's work and has "followed his career since he started." She's good friends with the filmmaker and when Wan offered her the role of Queen Atlanna, she couldn't pass up the opportunity to be a mermaid warrior.

"As soon as he said I could wear mother-of-pearl and be a mermaid warrior, I said I’m done," Kidman said. "Please. If there is one thing I have to do in my life, I have to be that."

You can watch Kidman portray Queen Atlanna when Aquaman hits theaters on December 21, 2018. You can also catch Jason Momoa portray the DC superhero in Justice League on November 17, 2017.
