Overwatch Passes 30 Million Players

That's a lot of people suiting up for the team-based shooter.

Overwatch has now seen over 30 million players.

Blizzard announced the major milestone on the official Twitter account for Overwatch. The team-based shooter has added 5 million people over the past three months, since Overwatch passed 25 million players back in January.

"Thanks for grouping up with us, heroes," Blizzard tweeted out. "We couldn't ask for a better team."

There's more to celebrate for the game as well. Overwatch is nearing its first anniversary, and IGN has looked back over the shooter's past year.

Now looking forward, Blizzard is working on three new maps for Overwatch. And game director Jeff Kaplan recently said the Oni Genji and Officer D.Va skins will come to standard loot boxes for the game, meaning it won't be necessary to play Heroes of the Storm to obtain them.

The seasonal event called Uprising is happening right now in Overwatch.
