Aquaman is still learning how to control his powers in his upcoming solo movie, according to Jason Momoa.
In an interview with GQ Magazine, the Aquaman star revealed that his character is still trying to become both a man and a full-fledged superhero in the film. Momoa noted that while Aquaman is coming to grips with the fact he's a "half-breed," he's also the "best of both worlds."
"He just doesn't know how to handle his powers," Momoa explained. "So it's kind of a coming of age for a young man to a man, or a man to a king. He's lost a lot of things and he's got to cope. He's an outsider."
Elsewhere in the interview, Momoa expressed his excitement over the fact that his portrayal as Aqauman will be the first one on the silver screen and will "set the tone" for future takes on the DC character. "We've never really seen anything from this guy before, so it's fun to have a level playing field," Momoa said. "There aren't like four Aquamans before me."
Aquaman hits theaters on December 21, 2018. For more on the DC solo film, find out what Momoa had to say about Aquaman's underwater world.
