Logan will be re-released in theaters in black and white, according to director James Mangold.
On Twitter, Mangold said that, on May 16, a black-and-white version of the third Wolverine film will hit U.S. theaters and will also be included on the film's Blu-ray and DVD release on May 23.
"Suggestion. Hard core B&W loving LOGAN fans should not make any plans on the evening of May 16th," Mangold tweeted, clarifying in responses to fans that this theatrical re-release will only be available in the U.S. and that "To make a great B&W version of a film, the whole thing's gotta be regraded & timed shot by shot."
IGN has reached out to Fox for more information about the supposed release and will update this story should they respond.
The move is similar to what Warner Bros. did with Mad Max: Fury Road, releasing a "Black and Chrome" edition following the film's initial release.
Logan is still currently playing in theaters following its strong box office debut in March. IGN gave Logan a 9.7, calling it "an amazing swan song for the Wolverine character." IGN spoke to Mangold following Logan's release about what went into the final chapter of Wolverine's story.
And though Hugh Jackman's time as Wolverine has come to an end, the X-Men film universe will continue into 2018 with three new films, including a Deadpool sequel, New Mutants, and Dark Phoenix movies.
