Alongside the full reveal of Call of Duty: WWII today, Activision revealed the first early details about multiplayer.
While most gameplay specifics are under wraps for now, Activision did hint at a new mode called War Mode that will let players take part in famous historic World War II battles, with different objectives for each team depending on whether you’re the Allies or the Axis.
Instead of character classes, players will now have Divisions. Again, Activision didn’t reveal many specifics, but did say Divisions will include infantry and armored options.
Between matches, players will hang out in Headquarters, a “robust social space” that sounds similar in concept to the Tower in Destiny. Activision promises “interaction, recognition and awards unlike anything experienced in the franchise to date.”
Beyond that, today’s news focused mainly on the story details of Call of Duty: WWII’s campaign, though Activision did confirm a separate, standalone co-op mode will also be included.
Activision also confirmed that Call of Duty: WWII’s multiplayer will be at E3 2017 in June, where it will be playable for attendees, including members of the public.
On Twitter, Sledgehammer also teased Call of Duty: WWII's Nazi Zombies mode with a single image, but didn't share any specific details.
Call of Duty: WWII will launch on November 3 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. For more, check out our impressions of the single-player campaign.
