Call of Duty: WWII Release Date, Beta Officially Confirmed

Call of Duty returns this November.

Activision has confirmed just when Call of Duty: WWII will be released, while also offering the first details about the game’s campaign.

Following a leak of marketing materials earlier this week, Activision announced today that Call of Duty: WWII, developed by Sledgehammer Games, will release for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 3.

Additionally, a private beta will be available to those who preorder the game, though no official dates have been set for the beta.

Alongside that information, Activision offered new details about WWII’s single-player campaign. The solo chapter of the game will follow U.S. Army private Ronald “Red” Daniels as he and the other members of the U.S. 1st Infantry Division fight throughout World War II’s European theater.

Locations will include the famed beaches of Normandy, as well as scenes set during the liberation of Paris before the Division finds its way to Germany. Both the D-Day Invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge, two of World War II’s most well-known battles, will be featured in the game.

WWII will also offer a separate co-op campaign, featuring an original story, though no other details have been announced.

As part of the Call of Duty: WWII reveal, Activision also unveiled the first multiplayer details for the next Call of Duty.

IGN also had a chance to preview COD: WWII ahead of the reveal.

Activision announced the next chapter in the Call of Duty franchise last week, revealing that the franchise would be heading back to World War II for the first time since 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War. Sledgehammer previously developed Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
