BioWare Confirms Non-Human Playable Characters in Mass Effect: Andromeda

Get your Krogan on.

Fernando Melo, one of the producers on Mass Effect: Andromeda, has teased us with some more multiplayer information.

First, Melo apologised for the lack of public tech test which had previously been due before release. He goes on to say, however, that the multiplayer mode has had the "most [extensive] user testing we've ever done."

A more welcome bit of news is that you will be able to play as other races in the multiplayer. Melo Tweeted a screenshot showing off the character selection screen, and there are definitely a few non-human options in there, including the likes of Krogan and Salarian.

Whether it will dig as deep as Mass Effect 3's multiplayer (ultra-rare Volus biotics!) we don't yet know.

The Mass Effect: Andromeda multiplayer mode will be playable at PAX East, which begins on March 10, and will also be fully available on EA / Origin Access ahead of launch.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is due for release on March 21 in North America, and March 23 everywhere else. If you want to know what we thought about the first few hours of the game, check out last week's Unlocked.
