Godzilla 2 Will Feature Only One Returning Original Star

Let them fight.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will only feature one returning star from the 2014 reboot.

Variety reports Ken Watanabe will reprise his role as Dr. Ishiro Serizawa in the sequel, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen not likely to return. It's also been reported Straight Outta Compton star O’Shea Jackson Jr. is close to joining the movie, though there are currently no details about his potential role.

Jackson Jr. would be joining a cast which includes, along with Watanabe, Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), and Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel). Godzilla: King of the Monsters will serve as Brown's film debut.

Michael Doughetry (Krampus) will be directing from a script he co-wrote with Krampus writing partner Zach Shields. Godzilla: King of the Monsters will open in theaters on March 22, 2019.
