WrestleMania 33 comes to us live from Orlando, Florida this Sunday, April 2nd, and -- including the Kickoff Show -- the card is currently stacked for six hours of wrasslin' mayhem. But who will win? Who will stand tall? Who will get their big WrestleMania moment? Titles are on the line. Pride is in the mix. Rage is all the rage.
There are betting odds out there you can peak at. There's the super scientific science of Opposite Momentum to consider (whoever is on top during the last TV appearance of a feud will lose the PPV match). Plus, there are just certain ways wrestling storylines are supposed to end - usually with the good guy winning. So with all this in mind, here are our picks to win the big matches at WrestleMania 33!
Big beefy Braun is taking this one. Granted, it'd be fun to see Sami Zayn eke out a surprise win here, but this one's going to Braun "Guy Who Should Actually Have a Singles Match on the Main Show" Strowman. He's had a such a great showing over the past few "Road to WrestleMania" months that it'd be absurd for him to not swat everyone to the side and get the Andre trophy.
Predicted Winner: Braun Strowman
I'm going to ignore Opposite Momentum here and give this win to Neville simply because his heel run on top of the Cruiserweight Division is the best, most stabilizing thing to happen to the division since it launched last summer. An Aries win would be great too, but, right now, he's just not as well known to the broader, non-indie oriented WWE Universe.
Predicted Winner: Neville
Before Naomi popped back up on SmackDown this week, Alexa Bliss was pretty much a lock to retain the title in what looks to be a rather zero-sum women's match jumble. Now that Naomi's returned though, the hometown Orlando gal is taking her strap back.
Predicted Winner: Naomi
Overall, it doesn't actually matter who wins or retains the RAW tag team titles. There's no one team that sticks out over the rest in this three-way Ladder Match. So, when in doubt, and outside of the Hardys coming in and actually joining the match as a surprise, you gotta go with the feel-good babyface win. Plus, there's the RAW-After-Mania to always consider now and you want Enzo and Cass, who've never held tag team gold, coming out as champs for that show.
Predicted Winners: Enzo Amore & Big Cass
This is a tough one to call simply because the feud, quite frankly, hasn't gotten all the much air time on SmackDown. In fact, there've been a few weeks where Ambrose and Corbin weren't even featured at all. Instead of flipping a coin though, let's go for Opposite Momentum here (Ambrose caused Corbin not lose to Orton on their last big TV spot) so...
Predicted Winner: Baron Corbin
Yeah, John and Nikki are taking this one easy. That's not to say this isn't a strangely exciting match that looks to be a hell of a lot of fun, but these winners are pretty much a sure thing. Plus, John Cena House Rule #107 clearly states that he and Nikki will win in every and all mixed-tag endeavors.
Predicted Winners: John Cena & Nikki Bella
Here's another tricky one to call, though it'll be an awesome match regardless of who wins. Here though, since Jercho caused Owens to lose to Sami Zayn this past week on RAW, Owens will be victorious and grab Jericho's U.S. title. Maybe when he wins, he'll drape a 1990s Pamela Anderson poster on top of Jericho's beaten and battered form.
Predicted Winner: Kevin Owens
Many feel like the seeds have been planted for a big Sasha heel turn - a betrayal of her best friend. Which could easily lead to a Sasha 'Mania win. But if you take into account the RAW-After-Mania, and the fact that Bayley needs a legitimizing pin and win for her current title run, Bayley could take this one and Sasha could stab her in the back the following night.
Predicted Winner: Bayley
This isn't the strongest or most well articulated argument or reasoning but... there's honestly no good reason why AJ should lose this one. Or a good reason why Shane should win. Most likely, this is not a feud that will keep going after WrestleMania. It's a one-and-done match. So...
Predicted Winner: AJ Styles
Since the consensus seems to be that this is Undertaker's last match, the consensus also seems to be that he'll use his final WrestleMania bout to put over Roman Reigns. Naturally, it would be awesome if Roman's win was also accompanied by a heel turn, but we probably won't be that lucky. If this truly ends up being Taker's last ride in the ring (though that remains to be seen), it would be nice if it had been properly set up ahead of time. Oh well. Hell's bells. Get ready to boo your behind off.
Predicted Winner: Roman Reigns
His strange win over Sting notwithstanding, Triple H's role at WrestleMania these past few years has been to put over guys like Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns. This year, it sure seems like he's set up to fall to Seth Rollins. And if this were a lean and clean straight-up singles match, Seth would be our pick. Since it's a malformed, unsanctioned war however, this looks to be a Hunter win. Seth has a real injury to exploit and Trips has henchmen, like Samoa Joe, at his disposal. Also, Seth, after this match is done, isn't cleared to get back into the ring yet. So until Seth is cleared and ready to work regularly, his revenge will be delayed.
Predicted Winner: Triple H
A reminder now that just because I'n picking certain guys and gals to win doesn't mean they're the ones I WANT to win - such as the Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt match for the WWE Championship. I'd love for Bray to hold onto the title, but in all seriousness, and having to come to terms with reality, he's most likely going to fall to an RKO. That will most likely come outta nowhere.
Predicted Winner: Randy Orton
As much as it would be enjoyable to see Goldberg annihilate Lesnar in 30 seconds again, Brock's getting his big win here to make up for his Survivor Series squash, elimination at the Rumble, and recent spearing on this past week's RAW. Which means Brock gets to hog a world title again and defend it sparingly. The upside this time around though is that there are now two world belts. Yes, the WWE Championship will keep us warm on those cold nights when Brock vanishes for months on end.
Predicted Winner: Brock Lesnar
