Dominic Toretto’s Dodge Ice Charger from The Fate of the Furious is coming to Rocket League, developer Psyonix has announced.
The Charger will be available for $1.99 on April 4, ahead of The Fate of the Furious’s April 14 release in theaters. The DLC will also include six unique decals. Check them out, as well as the Charger, in the gallery below:
The Charger is another in a line of licensed cars that have come to Rocket League, including the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Batmobile and Back to the Future’s DeLorean.
Speaking to IGN, Psyonix’s Vice President Jeremy Dunham said that the studio has continued to find success in bringing major brands to the rocket-powered soccer game because the movie studios behind them often include fans of Rocket League.
“That’s been our biggest ally is the fact that all of the studios we’ve dealt with do play our game and are fans of it and they like it,” Dunham said.
Regarding selection of familiar vehicles from major franchises, Dunham said the studio pursues cars from series they’re fans of but that there isn’t some defined list from which the team is working.
“Typically they’re cars we want to bring to the game. We do have a bit of a dream wish list, but it’s not one set in stone where we go off a checklist,” Dunham said, mentioning that the original DeLorean deal came when a Universal Pictures brand manager coincidentally reached out to him just as the team was discussing their desire to have Doc Brown’s car in the game.
Dunham also recently spoke to IGN about the game’s potential for coming to the Nintendo Switch, as well as offered an update on Rocket League’s growth and potential for PS4-Xbox One cross play.
