Each season has its fair share of sequels and second seasons, but this upcoming spring season has a few standouts that you won’t want to miss. One we’ve been waiting years for, while a few of the other have promise to deliver some amazing action.
The following anime begin their second seasons in the first or second week of April, so if you start binging a few episodes a day now you’ll probably have a few episodes of the new season waiting for you.
After over three years of waiting, season two of Attack on Titan is finally happening. If you were holding off on watching this one now's the time to start. It's brutal, but you'll find it's hard to put down once you’re drawn into Eren’s desperate fight against the disturbing, man-eating titans. The second half of the first season is stunted by Eren's angst, but it's worth getting through. While there are other ways to catch up on this one aside from the anime – don't watch the horrible live action films – the original manga would be your next best bet. As someone who's read the manga, I can assure you that this next season has the potential to be a wild one.

This superhero show was 2016's darling. Young Deku, a boy born without a superpower or Quirk, is bestowed one of the most powerful Quicks from his idol. This anime is reminiscent of our favorite Saturday morning cartoons, and has more heart and beautiful action than most. While the first season did a great job of establishing the characters and work through some drama, we expect the second to be an even greater show of action as a threatening presence moves in. IGN gave the first season a 9 for its strong storytelling, diverse cast, and thrilling action.

The long awaited continuation of the original Berserk is back next season. The Black Swordsman Guts continues his journey for revenge in this vicious anime. The animation may take a little adjusting to since it's done with CGI, but IGN’s Meghan Sullivan gave Berserk mostly favorable reviews for its intensity, use of complex themes, and character development. If all goes well we expect the next season to be just as good as the first. Funimation just released the entire English dub, too, making the first season primed for binging.

To end things on a slightly lighter note, the Eccentric Family follows a boy from a family of shapeshifting tanuki who discovers secrets behind his father’s death. It's a dreamy anime filled with magic, and it's ability to fulfill its roles as a comedy and drama are impressive. There's not a lot known about the next season other than it's an adaptation of the sequel novel, but if it's anything like the first, we’re in for a wonderful heartfelt drama.
