WB Comments on LEGO City: Undercover Switch Download

No download required for the physical version.

Warner Bros. has come forward to address some of the confusion surrounding the installation requirements for LEGO City: Undercover, confirming that the physical version won't require you to download the game.

According to the official box art (photo via reddit), the physical version of LEGO City: Undercover on Switch requires an internet connection.

Additionally, a photo of the back of the box says "up to 13GB storage required for game download."

This resulted in a bit of confusion, as physical Switch games don't typically require an installation to play. On top of that, the digital version of the game is listed on the eShop as only being a 7.1GB download.

WB has since confirmed that those who purchase the physical version won't be required to download LEGO City: Undercover in order to play it. The following statement was provided to IGN by a Warner Bros. representative:

Players who purchase LEGO City: Undercover on Nintendo Switch at retail do not need to download the game to play. All players who purchase the game can download the small content update patch with an internet connection.

IGN has reached out to WB for further clarification and will provide an update when we receive a response.

LEGO City: Undercover releases for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC on April 4 and features a new co-op mode. For our thoughts on the original Wii U release, read IGN's LEGO City Undercover review.
