It is directed by Andrés Muschietti (Mama) with the screenplay by Chase Palmer, Cary Fukunaga, and Gary Dauberman. The story will be based on King's novel and follows the small town of Derry, Maine whose children suddenly begin to mysteriously disappear. A group of young kids find themselves going up against the evil clown Pennywise, who's been murdering and kidnapping children for centuries.

Along with Skarsgård, the rest of the cast includes Jaeden Lieberher (Midnight Special), Jeremy Ray Taylor (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip), Sophia Lillis (37), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Wyatt Oleff (Guardians of the Galaxy), Chosen Jacobs (Cops and Robbers), Jack Dylan Grazer (Tales of Halloween) and Nicholas Hamilton (Captain Fantastic).

It opens in theaters on September 8. Stephen King has already seen the film and is reportedly happy with the adaptation.
