Batman's war against Quar's Kryptonian army took a dark turn in the latest chapter of The Dark Knight III: The Master Race.
Warning: this article contains spoilers for The Dark Knight III: The Master Race #6!
The previous issue ended with Batman turning the tables against Quar's forces by showering them with liquid Kryptonite. Now vulnerable, these super-powered terrorists found themselves at the mercy of two Batmen, Superman and the entire city of Gotham. Carrie Kelly even proved that you can, in fact, defeat an invulnerable powerhouse with nothing more than a slingshot.

But while Batman and his allies saved Gotham, it wasn't without great cost. Bruce was shot through the chest by a wounded Quar. This issue closed with Bruce seemingly dying in Superman's arm in a scene reminiscent of his "death" from The Dark Knight Returns #4.
Will Batman cheat death once again, or is this finally the end of the road for the original Dark Knight? We'll find out when The Dark Knight III #7 hits stores on December 28.
