Sony's entire PlayStation Network Service appears to have unexpectedly gone down worldwide.
As pointed out by VG24/7, while scheduled maintenance was completed earlier today, this appears to be a separate issue.
At time of writing, every region listed on the PSN Status website shows all services as "experiencing issues". IGN UK cannot currently access PSN, and users on Reddit and Twitter are reporting problems across the world.
Upon trying to connect to PSN on a PS4, the message displayed indicates that the network is down for maintenance. However, the Ask Playstation UK Twitter account says that the problems are being investigated, indicating that this is a more unexpected problem.
PSN has repeatedly been the target of hacking groups in recent years, although there is currently no word on whether this outage stems from such a source.
