Nintendo Apologizes for Pokemon Go Plus Shortages

"We are planning to expand production as needed ..."

Nintendo has apologized for the availability issues with Pokemon Go Plus, the wearable accessory that works with the popular smartphone app.

Tatsumi Kimishima, president of Nintendo, addressed the accessory's shortage problem during the company's semi-annual fiscal 2017 briefing this week. "We launched the Pokemon Go Plus accessory on September 16th to provide a more comfortable play experience for Pokemon Go," he said. "Demand far exceeded our expectations and production has not caught up, leading to product shortages.

"We apologize to the consumers and distributors affected by this. We are planning to expand production as needed, and will continue to produce and ship additional units."

Currently, Pokemon Go is celebrating Halloween with a seasonal event. That means players will earn double the amount of candy as well as encounter spooky Pokemon like Gastly and Haunter more often.

Even before the update, Pokemon Go was reportedly still bringing in $2 million daily.
