The producers of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the stage play that tells the story of Harry, Ron, and Hermione's children, are in the "final stages" of talks to bring the show to Broadway beginning in the spring of 2018.
Announced on Pottermore, plans to bring Cursed Child to New York are currently underway, with talks already ongoing to bring the show to life in a "totally transformed" Lyric Theatre, which currently hosts the Cirque du Soleil Paramour show. The Cursed Child, the rehearsal script for which is currently available in book form , opened in London's West End earlier this year.
The multi-million dollar renovation plans would alter the theater to accommodate 1,500 attendants rather than its current 1,900 in order to allow the show's producers to properly bring the stage show's intricate set design to life.
"When the redesigned Lyric was presented to us as an idea and what the possibilities could be, we re-thought the whole thing and totally fell in love with the notion of a theatre being created especially for the Cursed Child," producer Sonia Friedman said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
The preparations are "still subject to planning," according to the announcement, and more official news about the project's likely journey to New York will be made available via the Harry Potter website.

Cursed Child follows the children of the characters made famous in J. K. Rowling's seven-book franchise as they themselves attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, though dark and mysterious events unfold as they grapple with their families' collective history.
Warner Bros. earlier this year also filed a film trademark for The Cursed Child in the U.K., however no official plans for an adaptation have been announced. The wizarding world is still being represented in film, though, with the recently released Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which will see its sequel also release in 2018.
